What is data?
Data can be in the form of: a number, text, images and sound. Data itself is meaningless, raw values stored by a system.
What is information ?
Information is data that’s been given context.
What does processing data include?
Sorting, grouping, able to make decisions and able to make calculations.
What is a direct data source and what is it used for?
It’s primary data and must be used for the same purpose it was collected.
What are some examples of a direct data source?
Questionnaires, interviews, observations and data logging.
What is an indirect data source and what is it used for ?
It is secondary data. Data already collected for another purpose or existed for another purpose.
What are some examples of indirect data sources?
Census, electoral data/register, weather data, business/third party data, websites and, textbooks.
