Data^ Flashcards
Qualitative Data
more and harder to analyse
subjective conclusions (researcher bias)
greater external validity
Qualitative Data + AO3
numerical data
- less detail, not real life representative
+ simple to analyse
+ easily drawn conclusion
Primary Data + AO3
original data collected by the researcher
: they conduct the experiment, observation, interview
- time, effort
+ specifically target aim
+ authentic data from participants
Secondary Data + AO3
data collected by someone else
: already exists, heeds to be researched
- it may not match researcher’s needs (challenge validity)
+ cheap, easy to access (no need for experiments)
- outdated, incomplete data
Meta Analysis + AO3
collect lots of studies to draw their own conclusion
+ increase validity
- publication bias
+ varied - not all relevant
Bar Chart
nominal data divided in categories
Histograms
continous data
x axis = size intervals
y axis = frequency of people
Scattergram
correlation
shows relation of variables
Disribution
normal distribution
- average
- mean=mode=median
skewed distribution
- positive (skewed to the left)
- negative (skewed to the right)
