Define Machiavellianism
Planful manipulation of other people to further your own ends. This is done by planned, strategic, and manipulative tactics.
Define Psychopathy
Includes two factors, the first includes characteristics including no; empathy; feeling bad about actions; feeling anxious of being caught. The second factor includes variables such as impulsive, lacking long term goals and sensation seeking
Define Narcissism
consists of behaviours such as egotistical attention seeking, bragging, derogates other people, inflated sense of self-worth and feels entitled to special treatment. When any of these behaviours are questioned by others, the reaction is often defensive
Define Sadism
Getting pleasure from inflicting pain, suffering, and humiliation on other people
What is the difference between Narcissism and psychopathy
The characteristics of psychopathy often lead those who suffer from it to do things without thinking about how others may feel as a result of their actions. Whereas narcissists often recognize that their actions may hurt people, but they continue to take those actions. Essentially, the outcome may be the same but the intention is very different

Antisocial is to commit crime, and rebel against other social constructs. Whereas asocial is to dislike spending time with people

Factor one

- manipulative, grandiose, pathological liar

- impulsive, lack if long term goals, attention seeking

What did Watters 2019 and colleagues find?
Used convergent and discriminant validity to examine the overlap between Narcissism personality disorder and Antisocial personality disorder. They found that there was a significant overlap between the disorders and therefore they cannot be easily separated. Because antisocialism is a factor to psychopathy it makes the two disorders very difficult to separate

high scorers avoid manipulation for personal gain, not interested in prestige and wealth, little temptation to break the rules
How are honesty-humility similar to the d factor?
Low scorers of honesty humility take pleasure in using others, and enjoy material things. this is similar to those who score high in the D factor
