Employment Standards Act of BC
Minimum standards of employment that apply to most employers/employees in BC
What is the purpose of Employment Standards Act of BC?
To establish rights, responsibilities, and working conditions of employers and employees
Who is not covered by the ESA?
Registrants of the CDSBC (i.e. DDS)

May 17, 2018 BC passed Bill 6

What must the ESA Act provide?
Employer must provide the basic employment standards to employees
What is the minimum wage in BC?
As of June 1st 2021 it is $15.20
When are meal breaks taken at work?
30 minutes unpaid meal break is provided after 5 hours worked
Keeping Records
records must be kept for 4 years after the file was created and 2 years after employment ends.

have been employed 30 days and have worked on 15 of the 30 days before a statuary holiday (1.5 X more)
