D2 - Unit 3 Flashcards
How to find the early time on an activity network.
It is the earliest time an action can be completed.
It goes in there first part of the circle.
It starts at 0.
Activities depending on others can’t start until the others are completed, so the earliest time will be the longest activity time.
How to draw an activity network?
Use circles as a point in time before and after an action.
The arcs are arrows when an action is being done.
Arrows point to another arrow if it is dependent on them.
A dummy arc (dotted line) does not take any time but is used to connect actions that are dependent.
How to find the latest finishing time?
Start at the last node. The latest time will be the same as the earliest.
Go backwards down the arcs and see when is the latest that activity can be started to be completed in time.
What are critical activities?
The early and late times are the same, so the action has to be completed at that time.
What is a critical path?
A path of critical activities.
What is a cascade diagram?
Every activity has its own row. (The critical path could be drawn all along the bottom row though).
Dotted lines show which activities other activities are dependent on.
What is a resource histogram?
The y axis is the number of men/resources needed to complete the activity.
