D-2 Survey Instruments And Equipment Flashcards
What does a level transit have?
Level transit, have a full horizontal circle and a partial vertical circle
What do scales for measuring angles use for a level, transit
Vernier that at best allows them to be read to the nearest 10 minutes of arc
What does the vertical circle allow readings of an angle?
Approximately 45° but varies by instrument
What is a transit ?
Transit have full horizontal and vertical circles
What are the scales equip with on a transit and what is accuracy read at?
Vernier and accuracy of one minute of arc or less
What is a theodolite?
Like transit have a full horizontal, vertical scale
What do theodolites use?
Micro adjustment technique that allows the angles to be read very accurately
How accurate are theodolites ?
Some can read to one second of arc
What is an electronic theodolite ?
Electronic theodolites have no scales to read at all
What do electronic theodolites have to display angel readings
Liquid crystal display or LCD screen
On the electronic theodolites How accurate are the readings of angles?
They can be fractions of a second, but is usually set to the nearest five seconds
What is the difference between transit and the theodolite levels?
It’s not clearly defined they’re both interchangeable , they both measure, vertical and horizontal angles
What is the level transit used for?
Both levelling and angle measurement
What does the glass reticule have on a level transit for measuring distance?
1-100 stadia lines
Why are open face transit called open face?
Because the horizontal vertical circles are visible from the outside of the instrument
