Cytokines Flashcards
IL-2
Type 1 cytokine
Source: T cells
Receptor: CD25 (low aff/naive: bg; high aff/activ: abg)
Target: T cell prolif, Treg survival, NK prolif/activ
only affects T cells w/HIGH affinity IL-2R
blocked by TGFb
CD4 T cells activated ahead of CD8 T cells to inc IL-2 (CD4 makes more than CD8)
IL-3
Type 1 cytokine
Source: T cell
Receptor: CD123/131
Target: hematopoietic progenitors maturation
IL-4
Type 1 cytokine
Source: Th2 cells, mast cells
Receptor: CD124
Target: B cell IgE, Th2 diff, M2 activ
IL-5
Type 1 cytokine
Source: Th2 cells, mast cells
Receptor: CD125/131
Target: eosinophil activ, B cell IgA
IL-6
Type 1 cytokine
Source: macrophages
Receptor: CD126/130
Target: acute phase proteins (liver), Th17 diff w/TGFb (Treg)
IL-12
Type 1 cytokine
Source: macrophages
Receptor: CD212
Target: Th1 diff, induce Tc/NK cells to make IFNg (& IL-18)
Make IFNg
- M1 activ (microbial killing)
- B cells-> complement binding, opsonizing IgG-> phagocytosis
IL-13
Type 1 cytokine
Source: Th2
Receptor: CD213/132
Target: M2 activ, B cell IgE, epith cell mucus
IL-17
Type 1 cytokine
Source: Th17 cells
Receptor: CD217
Target: acute neutrophilic inflammation
IL-1
IL-1 Family cytokine
Source: macrophages/monocytes
Receptor: CD121/218
Target: inc temp/fever, acute phase proteins (liver)
autocrine/paracrine stimulation of CTL’s (not prolif)
IL-8 (chemokine)
Source: macrophages/mast cells (stimulated by inflammation)
Receptor: GPCR
Target: neutrophil chemotaxis (STARTS INFLAMMATORY PROCESS)
Released by initial monocyte/macrophage interaction w/microbe, attracts neutrophils, then neutrophils make LTB4 to attract more neutrophils
IL-15
Type 1 cytokine
Source: macrophages
Receptor: CD122/132
Target: NK cell activ
IFNg
Type 2 cytokine
Source: Th1 and Tc cells, NK cells
Receptor: CD119
Target: M1 activ, B cell IgG
IL-10
Type 2 cytokine
Source: macrophages (Treg cells)
Receptor: CD210
Target: anti-inflam, self-tolerance
TGFb
Source: Treg cells
Target: fibrotic healing, B cell IgA (BAFF, APRIL), Th17 diff (w/IL-6), inh B/T cell activ, inh MP/NK
keloid scar
TNFb
lymphotoxin
