Cytokines Flashcards
Complement Anaphylaxis
C3a, C4a, C5a
Neutrophil Chemotaxis
LTB4, IL-8 (CXCL8), C5a, Bradykinins/Kerritins?)
Secreted by Macrophages
IL-1, IL-6, IL-8, IL-12, TNF-a
IL-1
Pyrogen, Osteoclast activator (MM).
From macrophages
Leads to fever and inflammation.
Activates endothelium, express adhesion molecules; Induces chemokine secretion to recruit leukocytes. (E and P selectin), does this combined with TNF-a
Stimulates acute phase reactants
IL-6
Pyrogen. From Macrophages and Th2.
Stimulates acute phase reactants (w/ IL-1, TNF-a, IFN-y)
Causes a fever
IL-8
CXCL8. Major Chemotatic factor for neutrophils
Secreted by Macrophages
IL-12
Induces T cell diff to TH1.
Activates NK cells.
Secreted by Macrophages and B cells
Secreted by all T cells
IL-2, IL-3
IL-2
Stimulates growth of all T cells (Cyt, Help, regulators).
Stimulates Immune System in general.
Secreted by all T cells
IL-3
Growth and differentiation of bone marrow cells.
Works like GM-CSF (Granulocyte macrophages CSF)
All T cells produce it.
Secreted by TH1 Cells
IL-2 and IFN-y, IL-3
IFN-y
Anti viral and anti tumor.
Stims Macrophages,
Stims NK cells. Kill viral encoded cells.
Increase MHC and Antigen presentation
Inhibits TH2 dev.
Secreted by TH2 Cells
IL-2, IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, IL-10
IL-4
Induces TH2 Diff (Opposite of 12 w/ TH1)
Promotes B cell Growth
and switching to E and G
IL-5
Diff of B cells.
Switch to IgA.
Stimulates Eosinophils
Don’t confuse IgE w/ eosinophils
