What do weather forecasts tell us and who are they useful for?
Weather forecasts tell us in advance what the weather will be. They are useful for farmers, fisherman, aircraft pilots and builder as their work and safety.
How do we do forecasting?
Forecasting is very complicated and lots of information and advanced computer are needed to make good forecasts.
Why are Satellites useful?
Satellites have become useful as they can see the weather many kilometres away.
What is the difference between cyclones and anti cyclones?
Cyclone/depression;
Area of low pressure
Rising air, so many clouds form
Unstable weather
Anti-clockwise direction
winds are stronger
Anti-cyclone;
Ara of high pressure
Sinking air, so few clouds form
Stable weather
Clockwise direction
winds are lighter
What is a front?
The boundary where cold air and warm air meet is called a front.
