What is CVS
Disorder which starts in children where there is repeated episodes of feeling and being sick. Regular and predictable cycle

Prodrome phase
Vomiting

Well phase
Causes of CVS
Not understood but linked with migraine
Can have some triggers such as emotional or physical stress, some food or drinks, very hot or very cold weather, motion sickness, allegies, over or under eating
Common age to develop CVS
3-7 years
Associated features
Those with migraine history may be more likely to inherit CVS, may stop getting symptoms when older but can continue and may experience migraines as adults
Medications to help with CVS
Sumitriptan and propanolol (migraines)
Ranitidine or omeprazole (stomach acid)
Onsansetron (sickness)
Amitriptylline or ibuprofen (pain)
Complications of CVS
Dehydration, oesophagitis, tear in lining of oesophagus, tooth decay, gastroparesis
