Cyber Resilience Flashcards
Cyber Resilience
Entity’s ability to deliver the intended outcome despite cyber events
High Availability
The ability of a service to be continuously available by minimizing downtime to the lowest amount
Load Balancing
Distributing workloads across multiple computer resources
Clustering in Networks
Use of multiple computer storage networks as one system to give availability, reliability, and scalability
Redundant Array of Independent Disk (RAID)
Combines multiple physical storage devices into a recognized single device
RAID 0
Stripping
RAID 1
Mirroring
RAID 5
Stripping with parity
RAID 6
Stripping with two blocks of parity
RAID 10
Strip the array of mirrored arrays, mirrors the data in a pair and strips it to make sure that if one goes down, it’s okay
Stripping
Splitting data between sources so when combined makes the full data block
Parity
Store just enough information that if its loss it can be mathematically reconstructed
Failure Resistant
Use of redundant storage to withstand hardware malfunction without data loss; RAID 10
Fault Tolerant
Uses RAID 1,5,6,10 for uninterrupted operation during hardware failures
Disaster Tolerant
Protects data from catastrophic events
Capacity Planning
Strategic planning to meet future demands cost-effectively
Surge
Small and unexpected increase in the amount of voltage being provided
Spike
Short transient voltage that is usually caused by a short circuit, a trip circuit breaker, power outage, or a lightning strike
Sag
Small and unexpected decrease in the amount of voltage being provided
Undervoltage Event
When the voltage is reduced to lower levels and usually occur for a longer period of time
Power Loss Event
No power
Line Conditioners
Used to overcome any minor fluctuations in the power being received by the given system
Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS)
Device that provides emergency power to a system when a normal fails; A generator for example
Power Distribution Center (PDC)
Where power is received from a power supply, and distributed to all systems
