Pneumothorax Mangement
A
Traumatic - ICC insertion
Tension - urgent needle decompression
Conservative (small <50% hemithorax, no symptoms)
- Observation, repeat CXR
Active (large >50% hemithorax)
- Aspiration OR
- ICC Insertion

Indications for ICC > Aspiration
A
- Failed aspiration
- Secondary spontaneous pneumothorax - unless the patient is stable
- Traumatic pneumothorax - unless patient is stable
- Decompensated pneumothorax
