CVS - Heart Wall & Coronary Circulation Flashcards
what are the layers of heart wall?
epicardium, myocardium & endocardium
what is epicardium?
outermost layer of heart wall
what is myocardium
concentric layers of cardiac muscle tissue
what is endocardium?
a single layer of squamous cells, continuous w endothelial cells of attached BVs.
how is blood supplied to the heart?
by coronary circulation, extensive network of BVs meet high O2 demands of cardiac muscles.
where are the 2 coronary arteries location?
base of ascending aorta
what are the branches & supplies of R coronary artery?
branches:
marginal branches
right posterior descending artery
supplies: RA interventricular septum portion of ventricles conducting system (SA, AV node)
what are the main branches & supplies of L coronary artery?
main branch:
circumflex artery
left anterior descending(LAD) artery, aka. ant-interventricular artery
supplies:
LV, LA, interventricular septum
what do capillaries within myocardium empty into?
venous drainages:
post cardiac vein
middle cardiac vein
great cardiac vein
why do capillaries open into coronary sinus?
to drain into RA
