1
Q

Describe the TRM LCO 3.1.103 CHPs Operating

A

Required in M1-4, it states that you must have a way to inject (-) reactivity int ot he core and shall be FUNCTIONAL.

Must have the following:

Borated water sources

charging pumps

separate flowpaths

power from DG

CH-501.

Q

What is the purpose of the CHP suction stabililzers?

What is the OE on a ruptured bladder?

A

Absorbs pressure surges in pump suction.

pressurized by N2 to 19psig.

A ruptured bladder has caused gas binding of CHPs

9
Q

What happens to the CHPs at 13 psia suction pressure?

How is CHP operation restored?

A

Low suction pressure trip to protect against cavitation.

Once reset, the operator must clear the antipump to allow PPLCS to restart the pumps.

Q

How will CHP operation be affected by a Green Flag?

A

If the pump is started from PLCS and subsequently trips, the pump will be antipumped.

  • LOP
  • LOOP
  • SIAS
  • LOP w/SIAS
  • LOOP w/SIAS
A
  • LOP- antipumped due to locked in start from NKN D42
  • LOOP- antipumped due to locked in start from NKN D42

  • LOP
  • LOOP
  • SIAS
  • LOPw/ SIAS
  • LOOPw/ SIAS
A
  • LOP- Antipumped due to locked in start from PLCS since NNN D11 never lost
  • LOOP- Will restart as needed by PLCS since NNN D11 lost power and removed sart signal
  • SIAS- Nada
  • LOP w/ SIAS- LS from LOP but will restart due to SIAS in 40 sec if needed.

17
Q

When does CHN-501 reopen following a < 5% level in the VCT?

A

Will reopen at 15% IF 536 is CLOSED.

18
Q

What are the power supplies and operating characteristics associated CHA-524?

A

powered from PHA-M35, the breaker is locked open with valve open to satisfy an NRC committment regarding Aux Spray. Indication is powered from M33.

19
Q

What is unique about CHV-239?

A

Powered from NK, uses an overvoltage relay to ensure Aux spray is maintained in the event of a failure to close from CHN-240.

20
Q

What is the function of CHN-240?

What is its power supply and fail state?

A

Maintains backpressure of 90-135 psid on CH pump discharge for seal injection and Aux Spray.

Powered from NK and fails closed. Same OV relay as 239.

Switch and PDIC controller are powered from NNN-12.

21
Q

What is the purpose of CHN-435?

A

Spring loaded check valve to maintain backpressure of 200psid in case 239 and 240 fail closed.

22
Q

What are the purposes of CHA-205 and CHB-203?

What are their power supplies and fail states?

A

Aux Spray valves - used when no RCPs are running or when IA isolated to containment.

Powered from PKA and PKB.

23
Q

What is the purpose of CHN-231P?
What is its power supply and fail state?

A

Seal inj temperature isolation that will isolate on LO LO temperature of 70F or on HI HI temp of 150F. will not close if the temp instrument loses power. Also has an amber light.

Powered from NK. will fail OPEN on loss of air/power.

24
Q

What is the purpose of CHB-255?

What is its power supply and fail state?

A

Cont isolation valve for seal inj line.

Power supply is PHB and will fail as is.

25
Q

What is the purpose of CHN-241 thru 244?

What are their power supplies and fail states?

A

Provide seal inj to RCPs. Each valve has its own controller.

241, 242 powered from NNN-D11

243,244 powered from NNN-D12. All valves fail open on loss of power/ loss of air.

26
Q

What is the purpose of CHA-506 and CHB-505?

What are the power supplies and fail states?

A

Containment isolation valves for CBO back to the VCT. They close on a CSAS signal.

Powered from PKA and PKB. Fails closed.

27
Q

What is the purpose of CHA-507?

What is its power supply and fail state?

A

CBO relief isolation. Aligns CBO to RDT thru 199(relieves at 225psig). This valve fails open on loss of air when IA isolates on containment isolation. Requires override on IA to operate.

Powered from PKA and fails open.

28
Q

Describe the TRM T3.1.102 CH pumps Shutdown and its basis.

Must have the following:

  • Borated water sources
  • charging pumps

State the requirements of TRM T3.4.100 Aux spray

A

Both aux spray valves FUNCTIONAL

M1-4

Required to lower press in PZR to get to SDC when RCPs are not available or late in cooldown.

One inop -restore 72 hrs

2 inop - restore 6 hrs.

required actions not met, restore IMMEDIATELY

30
Q

State the requirements of TRM T3.1.105 Borated Sources Operating.

A

The SFP shall be functional.
