CV Fibrinolysis Flashcards
Fibrinolytics
treat acute MI. binds fibrin, activates bound plasminogen, prevents formation of plasmin. reanalyzes occlusion - restores flow. improves myocardial function + survival short/long term. Adm. IV, give w/in 2 hrs. Adverse bleeding, stroke. Not as good in elderly or high BP, better in diabetes after MI
Analgesics
treat acute MI. reduce pain, anxiety, decrease venous/arterial contraction - decrease O2 demand. Adm. IV. Adverse hypotension, vomiting. also used in unstable angina
Renin-angiotensin Inhibitors
treat acute MI. block angiotensin formation or access to R. decrease venous/arterial contraction + sympathetic activity - decrease O2 demand, increase renal Na+/H2O E. reduce ventricular remodeling. Give after aspiring, beta blockers, reperfusion. Adverse hypotension, cough. Benefits clear in elderly
