Cutaneous Nerves of the Arm and Forearm Flashcards
What are the segments of the posterior nerve of the arm, and what does it supply?
C5-C8 (branch of radial nerve)
supplies the skin on the posterior surface of the arm
What are the segments of the supraclavicular nerve and what does it supply?
C3, C4
supply the skin over the clavicle and the superolateral aspect of the pectoralis major
What are the segments of the posterior cutaneous nerve of the forearm, and what does it supply?
C5-C8 (branch of radial nerve)
supplies the skin on the posterior surface of the forearm
What are the segments of the superior lateral cutaneous nerve of the arm, and what does it supply?
C5, C6 (terminal branch of axillary nerve)
supplies the skin over the lower part of the deltoid and on the lateral side of the midarm
What are the segments of the inferior lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm, and what does it supply?
C5, C6 (branch of radial nerve)
supplies the skin over the inferolateral aspect of the arm, it is frequently a branch of the posterior cutaneous nerve of the forearm
What are the segments of the lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm, and what does it supply?
C6, C7 (terminal branch of Musculocutaneous nerve)
supplies the skin on the lateral side of the forearm
What are the segments of the medial cutaneous nerve of the arm, and what does it supply?
C8-T2 (medial cord of brachial plexus)
supplies skin on the medial side of the arm
What are the segments of the Intercostobrachial nerve, and what does it supply?
T2 (lateral cutaneous branch of the second intercostal nerve)
contributes to the innervation of the skin on the medial surface of the arm
What are the segments of the medial cutaneous nerve of the forearm, and what does it supply?
C8, T1 (arises from medial cord of brachial plexus)
supplies the skin on the anterior and medial surfaces of the forearm
