Brachial Veins Flashcards
How does the cephalic vein travel superiorly?
cephalic vein passes between the deltoid and pec major to the clavipectoral triangle, where it pierces the costocoracoid membrane and joins the terminal part of the axillary vein
What are the two main veins of the arm and where do they originate from?
basilic and cephalic veins, they originate from the subcutaneous tissue on the dorsum of the hand from the dorsal venous network
How does the basilic vein travel superiorly?
the basilic vein ascends in the subcutaneous tissue along the medial side of the forearm and inferior part of the arm. It then pierces the brachial fascia running superiorly parallel to the brachial artery where it merges with other accompanying veins of the brachial artery to form the axillary vein
