Platysma Origin
Inferior border of mandible, skin, and subcutaneous tissue of lower face.
Platysma Insertion
Fascia covering superior parts of pectoralis major and deltoid muscles.
Platysma Innervation
Cervical Branch of Facial Nerve
Platysma Action
Corners of mouth inferiorly, teeth clenched, tension.
Sternoclavicular Origin
Mastoid Process, lateral half of superior nuchal line.
Sternoclavicular Insertion
Sternal Head: Manubrium of Sternum
Clavicular Head: Medial 1/3 of clavicle.
Sternoclavicular Innervation
Spinal Accessory Nerve
Sternoclavicular Action
contralateral rotation, extends neck, flexes cervical vertebrae so chin touches manubrium, extends superior cervical vertebrae while flexing inferior vertebrae so chin is thrust forward (bad posture, under bite).
