Current, Voltage and Resistance Module Flashcards
What is the Quantity of charge measured in and what letter is used for it?
The unit of measurement for charge is a coulomb (C) and is represented by letter Q.
Example Q = 10 C.
What is the mathematical equation for current when referring to quantity of charge?
I(Current) = Q(Quantity in Coulombs) / T(Time in Seconds)
What is Conventional Flow?
Also called hole flow, is the movement in a conductor from the positive source to the negative source.
What is Electron Flow?
Is the movement of electrons from the negative source to the positive source.
What is the number of electrons for one unit of charge?
6.24 x 10¹⁸ electrons
What is an Electromotive Force (EMF) and what is is measured in?
Is the force that maintains the difference in charge to ensure current flow continues. The unit of measurement is the volt (V).
What are the six methods of producing an EMF?
Magnetic, Chemical, Friction, Heat, Pressure and Light(Photovoltaic)
State Ohm’s Law and the equation for it.
Current in a circuit is directly proportional to the voltage, and inversely proportional to the resistance. I = E / R
