Current of Electricity Flashcards
Define Electric Current.
It is defined as the rate of flow of charged particles.
What is a Drift Velocity?
It is the rate of change of displacement along the conductor with respect to time.
What is the conservation of charge?
It suggests that charges cannot be destroyed nor created, which implied that current remains constant along one single conductor.
Define Potential Difference.
The P.D. across a device is the electrical energy converted to other forms of energy per unit charge passing through the device.
What is an electromotive force?
The E.M.F. of a source is the electrical energy, converted from other forms of energy per unit charge, transferred by the source in driving unit charge round a complete circuit.
Define resistance.
The resistance of a conductor can be defined as the ratio of the potential difference across the conductor to the current flowing through it.
Explain Ohm’s Law.
Ohm’s Law states that the current through a metallic conductor is proportional to the potential difference across its ends under constant physical conditions.
