- waste recycling: refuse collection facilities are designed to support recycling
- energy efficient: the houses face south to take advantage of solar gain, triple glazed and have high thermal insulation

- backup boiler has been used from 2005-2017
- the water recycling facility doenst clean water properly so out of use
- wouldn’t work as a country wide solution for a HIC
