What is culture bias
Is the tendency to interpret all phenomena through the lens of ones own culture and ignoring the effects cultural differences might have on behavior
What is ethnocentrism
To view one’s own culture as superior and judge other cultures by those standards
What is culture relativism
Is the opposite of ethnocentrism, it is the view that to understand a culture we have to look at it at its own terms rather than judge it by the standards of another
What term did Henrich come up with
WEIRD
Henrich argues that psychologists only study Western,Educated,Industrial,Rich and Democratic people
What is an example of Ethnocentrism
Ainsworth Strange Situation
- Ainsworth suggested that the ideal attachment style is characterised by a moderate level of separation and stranger anxiety (secure attachment)
—> this however led to a misinterpretation of upbringing as it only reflected Western cultural norms

Sternbergs view on intelligence
- he argues that intelligence is different for different culture so it be able to understand that , culture needs to be taken into account

- an IQ test made before WW1 showed African American people as being at the bottom of the IQ scale
