• Restricted Indiginous culture and language(assimilation policies).
• Spiritual rituals, access to families.
• Children subjected to emotional,physical, and sexual abuse.
• Impaired decision making skills “residential school were no preparation for life I any type of community” (Armitage,1993)
• Struggle with alcohol, drug use, mental health arose for psychological trauma.
• Limited ability to parent their own children.
• Many have been able to maintain a positive outlook but many families experienced the effects of the residential school system.
