cultural misunderstandings arise when people do not understand the expectations of a culture and how it can influence behaviour.

- direct language (when someone comes across as more direct than they mean to)
- idioms (using slang language)
- questions (some questions can be considered side red rude or too personal in certain cultures)
- Compliments (some cultures may find particular compliments inappropriate)
