- Use of own culture to judge other cultures
- Natural but should be avoided in research
- Alpha bias and beta bias
- Alpha bias = Sees their culture as superior so assumes behaviour will be different
- Beta bias = assuming behaviour will be same across all

All cultures are equally worthy of respect when studying another culture it is important to understand how that culture may see the world
