He was harsh but wasn’t as controlling as Batista, they saw him as a better leader

Why did relations between Cuba and the USA grow worse?
The govs were very different - Capitalist USA & Communist Cuba. US refused to accept the presence of a communist gov in Cuba.
What did President Eisenhower authorise in June 1960?
The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to overthrow Castro. The CIA provided support and funds to Cuban Exiles.
How did Castro respond to US hostility?
He had a mixed approach, he assured the Americans living in Cuba were safe, allowed the US to keep their naval base. Cuba had signed a treaty with the USSR
