USSR were unhappy - thought they were losing a Communist ally.

what did the Soviets do to Dubcek reforms
A
The USSR tried to slow down Dubcek’s reforms.
- Soviet troops began to train and set up military to intimidate Dubcek
- considered economic sanctions but did not have the money
- The Warsaw Pact countries put pressure on Czechoslovakia.
- 20th August 1968 – The USSR moved tanks into Czechoslovakia.
- Dubcek was removed from power but was not executed.
• The USSR issues the Brezhnev Doctrine.
- (That Warsaw Pact countries were not allowed to abandon Communism, otherwise the USSR would invade)
