CTS Flashcards
How does CCW support CTS?
CCW cools the mechanical seals.
How does ESW support CTS?
ESW flowers through the shell of the CTS heat exchanger to cool the flow when on the recirculating sump.
What does the eductor do?
Delivers a diluted solution of sodium hydroxide to the suction of the pump.
What automatically trips a CTS pump?
Over load over current
Load shed
What is the purpose of the CTS system?
Limits containment peak pressure to less than the design pressure (12psig) during LOCA or SLBA. Remove radioactive iodine isotopes which would be released into the containment atmosphere during a loss-of-coolant accident.
what are the CTS pump auto starts?
Phase B 2.8# in lower containment.
Blackout sequence.
What is the CTS flow path on a CTS/Phase B, signal?
Both containment spray pumps take suction on
the refueling water storage tank (RWST).
Discharge through their associated
containment spray heat exchanger to the spray
nozzles in the containment.
A portion of each pumps discharge flow is
diverted through its spray additive eductor
(eductor draws a NaOH solution from the
spray additive tank into the water flowing
through the eductor).
Mixture then returned to the containment
spray pump suction and is discharged to the
spray nozzles.
What is the CTS flow path during the recirculating phase?
Prior to the RWST supply being exhausted,
the spray pumps are manually lined up to take
a suction on the containment recirculation
sump (Cold leg Recirc Mode.)
1) RWST Lo Level alarm comes in at
30% level.
2) Starting at 20% RWST level, East
Train RHR and CTS are transferred to
the recirc sump followed by the West
Train.
b. Essential service water flow is initiated
through the shell side of the containment spray
heat exchangers to cool the spray flow
What happens when on low level in the spray additive tank?
The spray additive tank valves go closed.
What is the power supplies for CTS pumps?
