Q

Why is the kidney important in fetal development?

A

Kidney produces amniotic fluid which is passed out as urine.

Fetus need amniotic fluid to be bathed in and allows to move around (MSK). Baby ingests and inhales amniotic fluid through the lung, expanding the lung and exercising it, aiding in development. If baby does not receive or make enough amniotic fluid, lungs will be underveloped and might lead to early neonatal death
