What is this?
What is it usually caused by?
Which age group does it affect?
A
➊ URTI causing oedema of the larynx
➋ Parainfluenza virus
➌ Children 6 mths – 3 yrs

How does it present?
A
• Barking cough
• Stridor
• Increased WOB
• Hoarse voice
• Fever
• Typically, worse at night

How is it managed?
A
• Avoid agitating child with examination, procedures etc.
• Supportive fluids and rest
• Oral Dexamethasone 0.15mg/kg
• Nebulised Budesonide
• Nebulised Adrenaline
