What questions to ask a user wanting to cross?
Which crossing the user wants to use
What is required to pass over
How long
Confirm and repeat back
If safe, inform user to cross IMMEDIATELY
What falls under 2.1.2 and what is the procedure?
Animals or large, low slow moving vehicles or trollies with small wheels
Anything that will take 3 minutes or more
How long they will take
Make sure there is enough time to not cause train delays
Make sure protecting signals are placed or kept at danger
Tell the user to report back when the movement is complete
What should you do if a user does not contact you back?
Keep protecting signal on danger until you have spoke to the driver of the next train
To tell the driver to approach the crossing at caution
Do not pass over until the driver has deemed it safe to do so
Ask the driver to contact you to inform you if the crossing is safe
Procedure if not able to hear or understand caller?
Caution every driver of each train until you are sure the crossing is safe for passage of trains
What must you record for each requested crossing?
he name of crossing
Time and nature of request
How long the caller says it will take
The time you give permission
The time the movement is reported clear
What is the procedure if vehicle gates are left open
Inform the driver to approach crossing at caution
Not pass over the crossing until driver deems it safe to do so
Ask them to contact you with the status of the crossing
If necessary ask the driver to close the gates
Must do this until you are told the gates are closed
What is the procedure if a train fails on the track circuit of a level crossing?
Get the drivers assurance that the train will not be moved without first getting your permission
What must you tell a driver to obey when approaching an automatic crossing under local control?
