Crj Anti Ice Systems Flashcards
What bleed source provides engine and wing anti ice?
14th bleeds
What surfaces are anti iced?
Leading edges Engine cowls Windshields Windows Air data probes
How are the windshield windows and air data probes heated?
Electrically
How is ice detected?
The ice probe vibrates at a certain frequency. When that frequency is interrupted by ice accumulation a message is sent to eicas from the dcu
How is the ice detector deiced?
Electrically for 5 secs out of every 60
What does the 14th stage isol valve do?
Allows both wings to be anti iced from a single bleed source.
How are wings heated?
14 th stage bleed air is directed through piccolo tubes.
What do the 14th stage valves fail to?
Closed
What’s the difference between norm anx standby modes?
Norm maintains a constant temperature via signals from anti ice controller.
Stby bypasses the temp controll and cycles the valves to maintain a lower temp than in normal mode.
What happens to anti ice valves when thrust reversers are used.
Anti ice valves close and reopen when Trs are stowed.
What 14th stage valves fail open?
Only the cowl anti icing valves
How is air exhausted after anti icing thd respective surface?
Through exhaust louvers
