Critical Thinking
The process of analyzing, evaluating, and synthesizing information in order to form a reasoned judgment or conclusion.
Premise
A statement or proposition that provides support or evidence for a conclusion in a argument.
Conclusion
The statement that is reached is based on premises in an argument.
Argument
A set of statements where some are premises and one is the conclusion, with the premises intended to support or justify the conclusion.
Hidden Premise/Enthymeme
A premise that is not explicitly stated in an argument but is necessary for the argument to be logically valid.
Valid
An argument is valid if the conclusion logically follows from the premises, regardless of whether the premises are true.
Sound
An argument is sound if it is valid and the premises are true.
Induction
A form of reasoning where general conclusions are drawn from specific observations
(specific observations -> general conclusions)
Deduction
A form of reasoning where a conclusion necessarily follows from a set of premises.
