A

“We will proceed no further in this business” - this quote tells us that macbeth had his heart wholly set upon pushing these foretold prophecies to the side and no longer thinking about them until Lady Macbeth begins to persuade him

“Horrid deed” - this quote shows Macbeth’s reaction when talking about the murder of king Duncan it tells us that he understands that it is wrong.

“Was the hope drunk” - this quote shows that lady macbeth believes that Macbeth’s hope was a mere phase and that it may not actually last hence why she begins to further convince him.

“Dashed the brains out” - Lady Macbeth begins to paint this horrific scene of murdering a child with such gruesome detail just to convey the point across to Macbeth that he himself would look like lesser of a man if he was unable to do so.

“We fail?” - this quote shows that lady macbeth is in full belief that her plans of murdering the king is full proof and no one will ever find out that they committed regicide.

“A foolish thought to say a sorry sight” Act 2 scene 2 - this quote shows how driven lady Macbeth is and further pushes our understanding of her ambition.

A

“Will all great neptunes oceans wash this blood clean from my hand” act 2 scene 2 - this quote highlights the severity of how macbeth sees this situation, wishing that all the water in the vast seas to clean the blood from his hands, hoping that he himself will be clean from this situation he is now thoroughly lodged into.

“Something wicked this way comes” act 4 scene 1 - this quote tells us that even now the witches believe that macbeth is evil and even though the witches are fairly wicked they can sense macbeths wickedness from a distance.

“A little water will clear us of this deed” act 2 scene 2- this quote drives further the idea of lady macbeths ambition as she in comparison to Macbeth’s wish of wanting the whole sea to clear him of such a deed Lady Macbeth cool plays it off as though nothing has happened.

“All the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand.” Act 5 scene 1 - this quote tells us that now lady Macbeth has forced this idea of playing this whole situation off calmly for so long it has driven her crazy causing her to sleep walk and mutter about the death of Duncan wishing that she could clean her hands of the situation but she never could.

A

“I have no spur to prick the sides of my intent but only vaulting ambition which o’erleaps itself” act 1 scene 7 - this quote shows that he must further increase his ambition if he wishes to continue in such actions, its as if he has no purpose in doing so but must if he wishes to grasp what he desires.

“This deed I’ll do before this purpose cool” act 4 scene 1 - this quote shows that macbeths ambition is so great that he will now do whatever is needed to remain secure upon the throne, he has gone from a non-ambitious nobleman to a tyrannical leader who will kill innocent civilians just to prove his rule.
