“Dashed the brains out” act 1 scene 7 - this quote paints a horrific picture of lady macbeth murdering her own child in such a horrific manner wishing that he would do the same to Duncan, this shows that lady macbeths ambition will be the driving force of macbeth.

What quotations can be used to show the impact of ambition upon Macbeth and lady Macbeth
“Will these ne’er be clean”act 5 scene 1 - in comparison to LM’s previous statement of “a little water…” we can see that she has descended into madness wishing her hands were clean and that she could undo the murder of Duncan.
“Life’s but a walking shadow… full of sound and fury signifying nothing” act 5 scene 5 - this quote tells us that Macbeth sees the world as a stage and those upon it act like the whole world is theirs yet their words and actions mean nothing to him as he considers himself greater than that. This shows that macbeth has learnt a lot from ambition and that he himself has become battle hardened from all these past wars and many strives towards his goal of being secure upon the throne.
