The accused has been compelled to act by threats. He, or she believes at the time of committing the offence that the threats will be carried out.
Entrapment
When law-enforcement induces a person to commit a crime that the person would’ve unlikely committed
Intoxication
Is not a defence to a criminal charge can alter sentencing and given assets of circumstances
Mental disorder(three elements must be present at crime use as a defence)
- Natural imbecility: a person’s mental development isn’t complete.
- Disease of a mind: schizophrenia, dementia, and paranoia
- Inability to appreciate the nature and quality of one act.
Provocation
A wrongful actor insult that was sufficient enough to deprive, reasonable person self-control control
Self-defence
Accused must prove that there was no other way to escape except by using force
