Action forbidden by the criminal law, and can mean punishment by the legal system

Guilty Act - physical part of the crime

Exceptions to the principle of actus reus and mens rea
- self defence as a legal justification (complete defence)
- partial defence e.g. reason of insanity or mental health at time of incident
