What is sin?
Acting against the will or laws of God
What is absolutism?
The belief that there are certain actions that are always right or always wrong.
What is deterrence?
To deter/put someone off committing a crime. Effective punishment should act as a deterrent.
What is rehabilitation?
The idea that criminals should be helped to change so that they do not commit crime again.
What is capital punishment?
The death penalty
What is relativism?
The belief that there is no moral law and that rules change from place to place and from age to age
What is retribution? (revenge)
It is the idea that a criminal should pay for their crime or an “eye for an eye”
What is punishment?
A penalty imposed by a person in authority on the person who has committed wrongdoing.
