why do people with kidney dysfunction get secondary hyperparathyroidism
how can you prevent/treat it
complication of Tx?
because of hyperphosphatemia
dont eat cheese or nuts because they are high in phospherous or take phospherous binders
give one of the vitamin d analogues
these analogues can make the phosphorous go up even higher, so you need to bring the phosphorous level down first
(only drug that doesn’t bring up the phosphorus is cinacalcet - very expensive)
