General description of the GAU-21
.50 Cal, Air cooled machine gun capable of providing medium range suppressive fire.
After how many rounds must the GAU-21 be completely cooled? How long will that take?
600rds. 7-10 minutes. 7 minutes is for when there is significant airflow for cooling. 10 minutes for when there isn’t.
GAU-21 Limitations
• GAU-21 is not authorized to be installed in the following configurations:
– With both RHEP and RIB auxiliary fuel tank installed.
– With a torpedo on the ROB station (RHEP).
• The following configuration limits apply:
– When GAU-21 with RHEP stop is installed, RIB auxiliary fuel tank installation is prohibited.
– When GAU-21 with RIB auxiliary fuel tank stop is installed, RHEP installation is prohibited.

M240D Limitations
• M240D is not authorized to be installed in the following configurations:
– With both RHEP and RIB auxiliary fuel tank installed.

IZLID
The Infrared Zoom Laser Illuminator/Designator (IZLID), is a Class 3B, infrared weapon-mounted multi-function laser illuminator/designator. It is designed to operate in conjunction with NVG as a weapon aiming device. It emits a concentrated beam of invisible infrared radiation. It can be mounted to, and bore-sighted to either gun. It is powered by two AA batteries.
