Cranial Nerves Flashcards
Cranial Nerves
Provide sensory and motor info for oral, pharyngeal, and laryngeal muscles
Part of PNS
CN nuclei embedded in the structures of the brain, motor receives impulses via the corticonuclear tracts
Corticonuclear fibers decussate before synapsids with motor CN nuclei
Most have bilateral intervention!
I
Olfactory
Sensory
Smell
Does NOT synapse with the brainstem
II
Optic
Sensory
Vision
Does not synapse with brainstem (except for visual reflexes)
III
Occulomotor
Motor
Eye movement
