What does the oculomotor innervate?
Levator palpebrae, Superior rectus, Medial Rectus, inferior Rectus, Inferior oblique
What does the trochealr innervate?
Superior Oblique
What does the abducens innervate?
Lateral Rectus
What does the olfactory innervate?
the nose for smell
What does the optic innervate?
goes from the retina to the brain.
Optic chiasm –> optic tracts travel to lateral geniculate nucleus of thalamus; information is forwarded to the occipital lobe
What does the Trigeminal innervate?
muscles of mastication, tensor tympani, tensor palatini, mylohyoid, anterior belly of digastric. The general sensory innervates the face and scalp conj, bulb of eye, mucosus membranes or paranasal sinuses and nasal oral cavities include tongue and teeth, tympanic membrane. The meninges of the anterior and middle cranial fossae
Explain the branchial motor functions of the Facial Nerve
to supply the stapedius, stylohyoid, posterior belly of digastric muscles, the muscels of facial expression , including buccinator, platysma and occipitalis muscles.
Explain the visceral motor functions of the facial nerve
for stimulation of the lacrimal, submandibular, and sublingual glands, as well as the mucous membrane of the nose, and hard and soft palates.
Explain the general sensory functions of the facial nerve
to supply the skin of the concha of the auricle, a small area of skin behind the ear, and possible to supplement V3, which supplies the wall of the acoustic meatus and external tympanic membrane
Explain the special sensory of the facial nerve
For taste from the anterior two-thirds of the tongue and the hard and soft palates.
