25
CN V1 innervation
Sensation of the orbit, superior nasal cavity, forehead
26
CN V2
Trigeminal nerve- maxillary division Passes deeply through maxilla to emerge from infraorbital foramen. Parasympathetics are from connections to CN VII. All branches of CN V also provide sensory innervation to dura mater.
27
CN V2 M/S/B
Sensory-somatic
28
CN V2 Source
Pons
29
CN V2 skull foramen/destination
Foramen torundum
30
CN V2 innervates
Sensation of skin of face over upper jaw, upper teeth, inferior/posterior nasal cavity, palate in oral cavity
31
CN V3
Trigeminal nerve- mandibular division Note: Passes inferiorly through foramen ovale into infratemporal fossa. Parasympathetic fibers are from connections to CN VII and CN IX.
32
CN V3 M/S/B
Sensory-somatic Motor-Somatic
33
CN V3 source
Pons
34
CN V3 skull foramen/destination
Foramen rotundum
35
CN V3 innervates
Sensation of skin over lower jaw, side of head, lower teeth, oral cavity, anterior 2/3 of tongue. Motor to muscles of mastication, some palatal/ear muscles.
36
CN VI
Abducens
37
CN VI M/S/B
Motor-somatic
38
CN VI source
Junction between pons and medulla
39
CN VI skull foramen/destination
Superior orbital fissure
40
CN VI innervates
Motor to lateral rectus muscle in orbit
41
CN VII
Facial nerve Note: Brings parasympathetic fibers to peripheral branches of V2 and V3 via greater petrosal nerve and chorda tympani. These branches allow taste innervation to anterior 2/3 of tongue via lingual nerve, and passage of parasympathetic motor fibers to peripheral glands.
42
CN VII M/S/B
Special sensory- taste from anterior 2/3 of tongue Motor-Somatic and parasympathetic
43
CN VII Source
Junction between pons and medulla
44
CN VII Skull foramen/destination
Internal acoustic meatus to facial canal, out stylomastoid foramen in floor of temporal bone
45
CN VII innervation
Sensation of taste to anterior 2/3 of tongue. Somatic motor control to muscles of facial expression, stapedius muscle in ear, posterior digastric and stylohyoid. Parasympathetic innervation to glands of orbit/nose, submandibular and sublingual salivary glands.
46
CN VIII
Vestibulocochlear nerve Note: Divides in temporal bone into two divisions, vestibular to semicircular canals and cochlear to cochlea.
47
CN VIII S/M/B
Special sensory- balance and hearing
48
CN VIII source
Junction between pons and medulla
49
CN VIII skull foramen/destination
internal acoustic meatus
50
CN VIII innervates
Special sensory innervation to semicircular canals(Balance) and cochlea (hearing)
51
CN IX
Glossopharyngeal nerve Note: Contributes parasympathetic fibers to CN V3 and innervates carotid sinus/body with parasympathetic fibers
52
CN IX S/M/B

53
CN IX source
Medulla
54
CN IX skull foramen/destination
Jugular foramen
55
