Function of the olfactory nerve:
It is the olfactory nerve. It’s function is sensory and olfaction, the sense of smell.
Function of the optic nerve:
It is the optic nerve. It’s function is visual sensory.
Function of the occulomotor nerve:
It is the oculomotor nerve. It’s function is motor to direct eye muscle movement, pupil movement, and lifting eyelid.
Function of the trochlear nerve:
It is the Trochlear nerve. It’s function is motor to move the eyeball.
Function of the trigeminal nerve:
It is the Trigeminal nerve. It’s function is mixed. It senses the faces and directs chewing.
Function of the abducens nerve:
It is the Abducens nerve.It’s function is motor to move (abduction) the eyeball.
Function of the facial nerve:
It is the Facial nerve. It’s function is mixed for sensing proprioception and taste and motor facial expressions.
Function of the vestibulocochlear nerve:
It is the Vestibulocochlear nerve. It’s function is sensory of balance and hearing.
Function of the glossopharyngeal nerve:
It is the Glossopharnygeal nerve. It’s function is mixed. It sense the pharynx, tonsils, and taste buds. It motors the pharyngeal muscles and salivary glands.
Function of the vagus nerve:
It is the Vagus nerve. It’s function is mixed. It senses taste, epiglottis, pharynx, visceral organs in thorax and abdomen, and monitors vital activities. It motors swallowing, coughing, and voice production.
Function of the accessory nerve:
It is the Accessory nerve. It’s function is motor of swallowing movements and head/shoulder movements.
Function of the hypoglossal nerves:
It is the Hypoglossal nerve. It’s function is motor movements of the tongue during speech and swallowing.
