-sense of smell
-relay impulses to neurons in olfactory bulbs
-pathway -> cribriform plate of ethmoid bone
Olfactory nerve (CN I)

-carries visual sensation from the retina of the eye
-pathway -> optic canal
Optic nerve (CN II)
-cranial nerve
-motor to superior rectus, inferior rectus, medial rectus, and inferior oblique
-pathway -> superior orbital fissure
Oculomotor nerve (CN III)
-cranial nerve
-motor to superior oblique
-pathway -> superior orbital fissure
Trochlear nerve (CN IV)
-cranial nerve
-motor to lateral rectus
-pathways -> superior orbital fissure

-sensation from skin of face and cornea of eye

-sensation from skin of face and upper teeth
-pathway -> foramen rotundem
Maxillary division (VII)

-sensation from skin of face, lower teeth, and tongue
-motor to muscles of mastication
-pathway -> foramen ovale
Mandibular division (VIII)

-motor to muscles of facial expression, motor to lacrimal, motor to submandibular and sublingual salivary glands
-pathway -> internal auditory meatus and stylomastoid foramen
Facial nerve (CN VII)
-cranial nerve
-carry hearing and balance
-pathway -> interanl auditory meatus
Vestibulocochlear nerve (CN VIII)

-motor to parotid gland
-general sensation and taste from tongue
-pathway -> jugular foramen
Glossopharangyeal nerve (CN IX)
-cranial nerve
-motor to muscles of larynx and pharynx, sensation from larynx and pharynx
-motor to heart, bronchi, and muscles of the digestive tract
-pathway -> jugular foramen
Vagus nerve (CN X)
-cranial nerve
-motor to trapezius and strenocleidomastoid
-pathway -> jugular foramen
