CR && Photo Flashcards
Photosynthesis
Process by which light becomes energy
Cellular respiration
Releases energy in food to create ATP
ATP
Chemical which is used for cellular reactions to take place
Pigments
Light-Absorbing Structures that change color.
Chlorophyll
A pigment found in plants. Used in photosynthesis
Thylakoids
Membranes. When light hits them in a chloroplast, their energy jumps to electrons in chlorophyll.
Electron Transport Chain
The name for when a series of electrons is passed down a series of thylakoid membranes.
NADPH
An electron carrier. Provides high-energy electrons needed to make Carbon-hydrogen bonds.
Aerobic
Requiring air
Anaerobic
Does not require air.
Glycosis
Anaerobic process - breaks down glucose into two pyruvate ions.
NADH
Electron carrier
Krebs cycle
A cycle in which ATP and NADH are created,
Fermentation
The process in which NAD+ is recycled.
