CR: Lesson 5 Flashcards

1
Q

Theory of Memory by Donald Hebb

A
  • synapses become interdependent through learning
  • repeated firing causes a physiological change, producing short term memory
  • neural loop becomes a reverberating circuit
  • loop becomes LTM (takes 15-60mins)

Q

Maintenance Rehearsal

A

Techinque by Dr. Rick Parente
Must rehearse info to move it from STM to LTM
Rehearsal automatic for most, must be practiced by those with memeory disorders
Goal= make rehearsal automatic again

Q

Training Maintenance Rehearsal (3 stages)

A

demonstrates that the current method is ineffective
structure the training so that the client is forced to rehearse

Q

Phases in each card game

A

baseline- document current performance
rehearsal- client is forced to rehearse consciously and out loud
modification- adjust the number of rehearsals according to the client’s level
generalization- show the client how they can use the technique in real life–teach practical, functional activities and tasks
