Good ___________, everyone!
My name is Ben Reitz, and I’m the College Prep Zone Coordinator for Red Rocks Tutoring Services.
[INSTRUCTOR] has been so generous as to allow me some time to chat with you all about the College Prep Zone and the resources that we can provide for students enrolled in your class!
First of all, what is the College Prep Zone?
The College Prep Zone, or CPZ as we call it, is the tutoring center specifically dedicated to serving students enrolled in early level Math and English classes.
That includes your class, which is great news for all of you, because…
…that means that you will have access to both the math lab and the CPZ.
And while the Math Lab is a terrific resource (whose services I can’t recommend highly enough), tutors in CPZ serve such a select student group that they can often provide more frequent, immediate and leisurely assistance than is always possible for ML to provide, given the high volume of student use in that center.
Tutors in CPZ can provide things like…
1) Help w/ Homework problems
2) Explanations of any concepts along the track of topics in this course…
3) Test preparation for your exams - we even offer test reviews for major exams in your class… facilitated by a tutor and free snacks are provided!
4) Helpful handouts with formulas and worked examples for different foundational math topics
We try to make our process as unintimidating as possible…
how it works is you simply walk into our lab space (normally in the Learning Commons area SW corner, but temporarily here), get comfortable at a table, raise a yellow flag when you need assistance and a tutor will come to help you just as soon as they see the flag go up.

CPZ tutors are not only qualified and knowledgeable, they are also friendly and patient and won’t look down on you for not knowing something already, [or any other nightmare scenarios we imagine when we think about seeking tutoring help]
Tutoring in the CPZ need never be an intimidating experience!
Another thing to remember is that tutoring is not just for those struggling in a class.
The CPZ is a great resource, that many students use who are already excelling and simply want to maintain a high standard of performance for themselves.
