Q

What is clock speed?

A

Measured in Hertz, the frequency at which the internal clock generates pulses. The higher the clock rate the faster the computer can work.

Q

What is pipelining?

A

The concurrent decoding of two or more machine instructions. While part of one instruction is being decoded, another part of a second instruction may also be decoded.

Q

What does doubling the number of cores do?

A

Doubling number of cores rarely means doubled processing speeds. Improvements in performance depend highly on software being run. Software must be designed to run in parallel for performance to be gained.
