Q

Energy can be transferred by heating in different ways

What is conduction and what is an example

A

Vibrations are passed on between particles in a solid

Metals are good thermal conductors and wood is a poor conductor

Q

What is radiation and what is infrared radiation

A

The only way in which energy can be transferred through a vacuum

Infrared radiation can pass through gases and some solid materials. It is absorbed and emitted easily by dull dark surfaces and is absorbed/emitted poorly by light shiny surfaces
